I don't think a God (if exists) expects his believers/followers to thank him/her to what is given to them. If a God expects such things, then he/she isn't a God.
The best you can do, if you follow a specific religion or a belief system, is to understand the good values taught in such a religion or belief system and follow them with sincerity and honesty. Make no harm to others, think or do no bad about or to others. Respect others. Be humble, be generous, be nice.

Gonzalo AgustinI completely agree with what you're saying. That's precisely why I'm not religious, nor do I belong to any religion. They're all dogmatic and go from having logical rules like not stealing, not killing, etc., to having stupid rules like saying that gay people are sinners who will go to hell, that having sex before marriage makes you a sinner and you'll go to hell, and so on. The Bible is garbage and a book made to manipulate the masses. I have no idea if it exists (most likely something or several deities do), but I think that if something exists, it must be several deities with different missions. I don't even think that there's only one god and that this god is a man. I don't think that at all. I mean, I don't believe in the existence of biblical gods because they lie to us that it's the truth. In fact, nobody knows the truth; it's all speculation. Anyone who tells you they have the absolute truth about where we come from, where we're going, who created us, etc., is completely lying.
